Classic Car of the Month

The season opener was another amazing event.  I came to town at 8:30 in the morning
and there were 43 classic cars already parked on Main Street and they grew and grew
through the day to more than 800 of the most beautiful show cars in the state of North Carolina.
The new concrete dance floor was just what the dancers were looking for, wider and longer,
smooth and slick, it was filled with happy feet! Our new feature, “Classic Car of the Month”, was
the hit of the day. In memory of James “Meatball” Brady, his family was asked to allow us to use
his 1966 Chevy II SS, and Jerry Venable presented Janise Brady with a plaque honoring Meatball’s
car, more than 20 Family and friends were there for the presentation. Next month another great
classic will be featured so don’t forget to come by the museum at ‘Gasoline Alley’ to see who it will be.

July

July 2, 2011 Event

July 2nd was another great event.  Classic cars were parked on Main Street before 8:30 am and they just kept coming!
The day was HOT so it started out slower than usual but by 5:00 the streets and lots were full and the spectators had no problem finding their favorite ride.
There were a lot of new comers to Hot Nights Hot Cars and they spoke highly of how much they enjoyed the day and the people of Pilot Mountain.
The Band completed the ambiance of the day, Part Time Party Time Band kept the crowd on their feet.

Celebrating the 4th

August

August 6, 2011

Another exciting event in Pilot Mountain, we had a  roller coaster day, starting with heavy clouds and a fear of rain, but it didn’t stop some of our most faithful classic car owners from displaying their cars on Main Street.  Slowly the streets and parking lots were filling up with cars and spectators, then around 4:00 PM the rain came, heavy at first then slowing to a drizzle before it stopped.  The Titans of Taste, one of our food vendors, had their tent destroyed by a sudden gust of wind, I thought our day was over at that point but then the sun appeared and the streets began to fill with spectators and more cars started to roll in, the band (Hip Pocket Band) started on time at 5:30 and the dance floor was filled with ‘Happy Feet’.  We even had a special visit from Uncle Benny and his wife Carol, they set up their chairs in the band area and  thought they could sit and listen, but their fans kept them ‘up and about’ and they loved it!
Thanks to all our friends who made this another Great day!

September

September 3, 2011

Another great event and we made it through with no rain.
We would like to thank Mock Beroth Tire Group for  bringing Big Foot, a big fan favorite, also thanks to Lee
at the Richard Petty Museum for  bringing up the 1972 Dodge race car which had been driven by Richard Petty in the 1972 NASCAR race season.
